NPR Sunday Puzzle (May 3): Make a Lot of Noise:
Q: Rearrange the letters of 'assembly hall' to spell three loud sounds.I don't have a lot of time for a hint because we are busy! We are planning my son's birthday. With everything my wife has planned it should be grand. But I think we can do without the performer dressed like Tarzan.
Edit: The hints were all the words before the punctuation marks: BuSY (initial letters of the answers, in alphabetical order), Birthday (Bash), Grand (Slam) and Tarzan (Yell).
A: BASH, SLAM and YELL

That fourth loud noise you hear is me beating my head against the wall in frustration over how easy the puzzle has become every week.
Ben - agree with you. This puzzle took me back to the mid-80s and the Oakland Athletics. When the bases were full, the fans would react when the two sluggers of that team would come to the plate.
I believe they were brothers, after a fashion.
As I said on my blog, benbassandbeyond.com, it may be time for puzzle master Will Shortz to start rotating the difficulty level, as he does with the New York Times crossword.
Ben,
I took your challenge and submitted a suggested word puzzle. Will see if it makes the grade.
