Christmas Puzzle for 2017

Our annual Christmas puzzle is available now.
As in prior years, the reward for solving is a video Christmas card, but you'll need to figure out the password by solving the puzzle first.

Note: If you need some help, the full answer is posted here, but try solving it without help first... it's more fun that way.

Feel free to add a comment below to let us know that you successfully figured it out (without giving away the answer to others). We are always looking for new ideas for next year's Christmas puzzle, so submit those too.

  1. Fun puzzle and a fun year, Blaine. Thanks for the challenge here and every week.

    {I am amazed that your teenagers still like to hang out with you!}

All the best to you and your family for Christmas and the New Year.

  2. Very nice video. Although I was getting worried as some of the clues were getting a little kinky sounding! I always know I should shoot more video and take more pictures because the days go by so fast.

If that t-shirt is true toward the beginning we have something in common! Mine graduates in the Spring.

  3. Blaine - Thank you for hosting this years long puzzle fest, and for adding your own puzzle and the wonderful video of your family.
Wishing you, your family, and all Blainesvillians the happiest of holiday seasons and an even better 2018.

  5. Blaine:
Great puzzle! Some of the unintended combinations had me laughing too. Anyway it floored me.
Your movies are getting better and there may even be an Oscar in your future.
Thanks mucho for keeping your great puzzle blog going and putting up with all our (okay, my) off topic bits.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL AND A GREAT NEW YEAR!

  6. Nice video again, Blaine! (Though if Felicia keeps up this Benjamin Button reverse aging thing much longer, people will get suspicious.). Thanks for hosting our playground for another year!

  7. Blaine, thanks again all you do for us puzzlers. I think you had password in mind most of the year, since it is related to the activity that starts about 1:45 into the video.

  8. Another great and entertaining video Christmas card, Blaine and Felicia and Family... It is like like watching home movies, but on steroids!
And thanks, thanks, thanks, Blaine (we cannot say it enough) for providing us with this excellect cyber-forum for discussing Will Shortz's NPR puzzles... and for wandering off on our inevitable tangents. We feel at home here.

    Great word puzzle, too!

For NPR puzzle posts, don't post the answer or any hints that could lead to the answer before the deadline (usually Thursday at 3pm ET). If you know the answer, submit it to NPR, but don't give it away here.

You may provide indirect hints to the answer to show you know it, but make sure they don't assist with solving. You can openly discuss your hints and the answer after the deadline. Thank you.
