Q: Name a well-known comic actor (4,5) whose name is an anagram of two terms in golf (4 and 5 letters, respectively). Who is it?It's been a few years since we've had a puzzle involving this actor. Surprisingly it didn't involve elements.

For NPR puzzle posts, don't post the answer or any hints that could lead to the answer before the deadline (usually Thursday at 3pm ET). If you know the answer, submit it to NPR, but don't give it away here.
You may provide indirect hints to the answer to show you know it, but make sure they don't assist with solving. You can openly discuss your hints and the answer after the deadline. Thank you.

Remove a two-letter company and rearrange the remaining letters to name a different game.
ReplyDeleteClever!
DeleteThanks, Lancek.

ReplyDeleteIf a letter repeats in the star’s name, remove all instances of that letter. Rearrange. You get something that might come to see his next blockbuster.
Remove one letter from the comic actor’s name, rearrange, and get a term for something male golfers score consistently lower on than their female counterparts.
ReplyDeleteBlaine’s wonderful site is a blessing for all serious puzzle solvers and writers. So much so it’s easy to forget that Will doesn’t produce his Sunday segment just for us. It’s targeted toward the Weekend Edition Sunday general audience – not for our small group.
ReplyDeleteMy preferred version of this week’s puzzle was considerably harder than what you see here. Will preferred a version that was easier to solve. Not that it wouldn’t be fun for this group to tear into something more challenging. But would it be more fun for a family sitting around the breakfast table? I think Will does a pretty good job targeting his puzzle selections appropriately. Even though they’re not aimed at us in particular.
Anyway, I hope all here have fun solving this, though it probably won’t take all day :)
Congratulations, Chuck!
DeleteYou aced this one, Chuck!
DeleteCongrats, Chuck!
DeleteOh it's Chuck!
DeleteCongrats, Chuck, nice puzzle at either difficulty level.
Congrsts, Chuck!
DeleteCongrats!
DeleteI do sense that Will likes to mix up the difficulty of the puzzles. Last week's was so easy that it wouldn't be unusual to have a harder puzzle this week. Well, this was harder (would have been difficult not to be harder than last week's puzzle), but I'm a bit surprised Will didn't go with the even harder version.
Once again, a "Newer Post" link that fails to deliver.
ReplyDeleteDarn Blogger! Is it better now?
DeleteYep, thanks!
DeleteOver 1900 correct entries last week.
ReplyDeleteNo good clue ideas are coming to mind. The puzzle is easy enough that I guess I won't bother. (And no, this is not a tricky hidden clue. [Nor is this.])
ReplyDeleteGot the answer, working on a clue...
ReplyDeleteRearrange the name of the actor to get someone that you might find at the Kentucky Derby.
DeleteNumerical clue: 38

ReplyDeleteI see a connection to last week’s puzzle. Anybody else?
